It's just one week since bushgreen went live and already the site has over 1000 members and over 300 plays. It's fantastic to see a vibrant community growing. Playwrights worldwide, from Sydney to Dublin, have joined and the work on the site is truly remarkable.
It's great to see the way writers are using bushgreen. Established writers are uploading shorter works and festival pieces that usually wouldn't get published while emerging writers put full length works up with hopes of first productions. There's a large amount of festival work on the site. Leo Richardson has put When Cheryl Was Barassic on bushpress while Duncan McMillan uploaded Crunch just last night, both of which were huge hits at the Latitude festival this summer.
Sebastian Born Associate Director (Literary) at the National Theatre England has written our editorial this week so make sure you check that out and next week Lisa McNulty from the Manhattan Theatre Club is contributing for us.
We're still looking at how the site can develop and the collaborations it can foster. I've been talking to a number of companies and theatre makers about the curated section on bushpress. At the moment we're focusing on Top Shorts curated by the Bush but we're looking forward to inviting other companies to select these plays for our members. Of course if you have a particular theme you'd like us to look at, do get in touch. You can contact us any time at bushfutures@bushteatre.co.uk
