ANGLE at the Bush: Winners Announced

17th November, 2011 by | 0 comments

After this summer's extensive 'Be Discovered' search for new writers in west London, ANGLE at the Bush is pleased to announce that Mediah Ahmed and Neil Daley will have their work staged at one of the exciting new performance spaces here at the new Bush in February 2012.

Mediah Ahmed, 29, works part-time as an Information Support Assistant in a medical and dental library. She submitted her piece personally at the Bush after going back and forth with herself about whether her writing was good enough.

"I am still in shock that the panel saw something in my naïve writing!" she said. "But I’m really excited to see how the final thing is going to end up! I can't wait to see and be part of the process from bringing my words from paper to stage!”

Her play, 'Repentance', is a miniature epic about a Muslim girl and her new boyfriend.

Neil Daley works in public finance, and was inspired to write his submission after his mum passed along an ANGLE flyer she received in her local Tesco.

"I always felt I could write a script or story if I took the chance," he said. "As the date draws nearer, I hope that [people] think about whatever topics the play evoked for them and that they speak about the play with passion afterwards.”

His piece, 'Behind the Lines', explores the scene of a street crime where everyone's got an opinion.
