Bush Theatre at Latitude!

13th July, 2010 by Lucy Osborne | 1 comment

We've counted our solar lanterns, examined our ground sheets for holes and put the bunting from last year in the washing machine. While we wait for it to dry, our thoughts at the Bush have turned to what we might go and see at Latitude when we aren't busy at the theatre tent with our new show. Here are our carefully considered thoughts on what we will be seeing when we aren't checking that we have enough jam, colouring in our protest banners or practising our finest pop dance routines (you'll just have to come and see the show, won't you!).

So, courtesy of Spotify, here is the Bush Theatre Latitude Playlist 2010 , 13 songs to make you wiggle your bum while you are hammering in your tent-pegs...

BUSH THEATRE LATITUDE 2010

We are extremely excited about seeing The National, particularly as we missed them at the Royal Albert Hall earlier this year, but our Latitude hearts this year lie with Belle and Sebastian. A wonderful opportunity to see such a recently reclusive band and we can hopefully expect all the early singles as they are here on the back of their compilation album of early eps for Jeepster Records. There is also a big hands up for Spoon, whose latest album is terrific - punky, lo-fi tunes to die for. We'd be nowhere without a plug for These New Puritans; any band who can solve 'difficult second album' syndrome by choosing to write most of it for the bassoon gets our vote! We love Jesca Hoop and so will your Mum, but that's ok. And as much as I want to, I can't end without a mention for James. its not big, its certainly not cool, but the band who were once famous for selling more t-shirts than records do put on a good show, and they certainly have a curiously (to my mind) committed following at the Bush. Maybe I'm missing something? I'll find out on Saturday night...

See you at Bush Camp!

Despite the power cut you carried on! I, plus friends, plus the whole audience rose to applaud a wonderful slice of British theatre cake - home made, delicious and topped with some tasty acting, signing and dancing and some very fine writing . No spoilers! I hope it's the success it deserves to be. Thanks to all concerned. (Belle and Sebastian were fab too)
