At 7pm on Saturday evening, after the final 24 Hour performance of Sixty-Six Books the company and the audience poured out onto the Uxbridge Road to pose for this photograph. It's a 'recreation' in the loosest possible sense of a picture taken at the opening of the library building in 1896. Here, 115 years later, this beautiful building, gifted by Passmore Edwards to the people of Shepherds Bush, is beginning a new life as the Bush Theatre.
It was a great moment, involving special lights, and photographer Mark Douet standing on the other side of the street on a step-ladder to take the image. The fun of recreating that moment, combined with the elation of those audience members who had just completed a day and a night of performance made for a happy and heady atmosphere.

Some weeks after the event - 66 plays in 24 hours - I can't stop talking about it! My poor (but tolerant) friends must be bored stiff with me. I am enjoying reading the plays from the book we were given and recalling the wonderful performances. I don't suppose your produced a DVD of the performances? Thank you again to all those involved in this magnificent project. Sue
