Winter/Spring Season Announced

20th September, 2012 by | 0 comments

Today Artistic Director Madani Younis unveiled the Bush’s new season.

The season opens with Radar 2012 – a new writing festival, examining the scope and breadth of new plays through talks, scratch work, sneak peeks, and full productions.

Next we stage Sheffield Theatres’ production of DC Moore’s Straight, co-produce Unlimited Theatre Company’s MONEY the game show, before hosting the 2011 Bruntwood Prize-winning play Three Birds by Janice Okoh fresh from performances at the Royal Exchange.

In the coming months, we also play host to three special events. The first is Reckord Celebrations – celebrating the pioneering life and work of playwright, Barry Reckord, the Brook Green Festival and the South Asian Literature Festival.

Artistic Director Madani Younis said today, “I’m thrilled to announce my second season as Artistic Director of the Bush. As a new writing theatre, I wanted to explore what makes us unique, and examine the big questions in new writing today. From this thinking our festival RADAR 2012 was born with a view to looking at the ecology of new writing across the country in the current economic and political climate, and this season will see us launch our new literary policy.”

“Central to the ethos of this season, producing and hosting work with the best companies and theatres from the across the UK this signals an intent moving forward for the company to give a platform to exceptional new work from outside London

“My first season allowed us the opportunity to connect with and understand our new theatre and its place in the local community – this relationship is vital to the theatre and one I am committed to develop through in the coming years As part of our drive to make Bush shows as accessible as possible, it gives me great pleasure to announce new lower ticket pricing with this season, alongside a season multi-buy discount and £10 tickets for our Under 26 patrons. We also continue to grow Bush Local, our free membership scheme offering discounts to local residents and workers.”

Ticket are now on sale. You can find out more about shows here and remember to take advantage of Bush Savers, our season offers and discounts
