Jackie Kay

Jackie Kay was born in Edinburgh. She is a poet, novelist, and writer of short stories and has enjoyed great acclaim for her work for both adults and children. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including the Sal- tire and Forward Prizes for The Adoption Papers, the Somerset Maugham Award for Other Lovers, the Guardian Fiction Prize for Trumpet, and Decibel Writer of the Year for Wish I Was Here. She has also published a novel for children, Strawgirl, and a work of nonfiction, Red Dust Road. In 2006, she was awarded an MBE for services to literature.
