WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

The Bush invites applications from exceptional artists whose practice is focused on new writing and new work. We look for individuals and companies who have already demonstrated a strong commitment to their practice, have an established following and engagement with specific audiences, and wish to expand their practice, audience base, capacity and potential through a partnership with the Bush.

Specifically, we look for companies and artists who are:

  • developing and producing new writing and new work
  • pushing the boundaries of how new writing and new work are nurtured, produced and distributed at a local, national and/or international level
  • championing innovative approaches to audience development and engagement
  • fusing in their practice the strive for artistic excellence and innovation with a keen interest for how theatre buildings and arts organisations are managed
  • committed to developing their organisational capacity and expanding their network
  • are representative of the wealth of cultural and social differences within the city of London and the country at large

WHAT WE CAN PROVIDE

The Bush will offer a combination of in-kind and financial support to the companies/artists for the duration of the scheme (18 months starting in September 2016 and ending in March 2018)

In-kind support may include:

  • mentoring from senior members of the Bush team
  • R&D space in the building
  • profiling of companies/artists by the Bush’s marketing department
  • access to meeting spaces
  • access and involvement in selected strategic meetings (i.e. programming, producing, community and outreach)
  • access to Bush press nights and events

Financial support includes:

  • £ 2.5k bursary per company/artist
  • contribution towards R&D expenses (i.e. fees, hires, travel)
  • commission of work and/or activities in the Community Engagement program
  • commission of work and/or activities for the Studio
  • commission of work and/or activities for other Bush initiatives (i.e. festivals, events)

WHAT WE ASK

The Bush seeks companies/artist who can engage and be involved in the theatre’s activities, with a specific focus on:

  • taking part in meetings (creative forum, yearly programming, associates meeting, script meetings, etc.)
  • Studio activity (platforms, sneak peeks, workshops, etc.)
  • development and fundraising (gala, quiz, supporter’s evenings, etc.)
  • community engagement and outreach
  • press nights, pre/post show talks, satellite events, etc.
