West London Playwrights’ Group is a course for first-time playwrights and is open to anyone over 18 living in West London. APPLICATIONS NOW CLOSED.
We’re looking for eight people who are passionate about writing a play to join our new West London Playwrights’ Group. Over the course of 9 weekly classes, taking place every Saturday, our artistic team will take you through the fundamentals of playwriting and support you in writing your play.
The West London Playwrights’ Group is a free introductory programme, open to applications from anyone over 18 living in West London.
WHO IS IT FOR?
This opportunity is specifically intended for those who have received no formal writer training before and applicants don’t even have to have experience of writing a full play! You must be a resident of West London.
HOW TO APPLY
To apply, we would like to know a little about yourself, why you are interested in joining this group, and to hear about the play you would like to write. We also ask to see 1-2 pages of writing in any form – dialogue, poetry, lyrics or prose are all accepted.
All you need to do is fill out the form, and attach your writing sample as a Word doc or PDF file to it. We also accept video or audio applications. To apply by video or audio, please paste WeTransfer links into the text boxes provided on the application form below. Video or audio clips should last around 1 minute per question.
When you have submitted your application, a window should open with a confirmation that we have received your submission. Please note you will not receive an email confirmation.
The deadline for all applications is 6pm on Wednesday 26th January 2022.
Writers will need to be available from 10am-1pm on the following dates:

Between 2 April and 7 May 2022, we will schedule individual meetings with writers to discuss their plays.
We intend for these sessions to take place on site at the Bush Theatre. However, if a session needs to take place on Zoom then we will provide the group with prior notice.
