SPIT events presents its first open mic night at the Bush Theatre, as a part of the Bush’s ALT-B season and SPIT’s night series.
An electric evening of the hottest poets, rappers and spoken-word artists in London town. Headlined by award winning artist Joshua-Alexander, as well as Kristal Sisodia and Jordan Aaron. Hosted by SPITs artistic director and poet/rapper Harry Bailey, you can sign-up for open mic slots online in-advance, with a few spaces left for ticket holders on the door. So come and be a part of poetry in motion as the SPIT community takes the London poetry scene by storm.
Joshua-Alexander is an actor and award-winning & spoken-word artist, winning Wordplay & Flows Best Musical Spoken Word Project award for Cocoa Butter. His other works include Southside Eulogy and Archives of a Lost Saint. As an actor, he comes off the back of playing Mercutio in Jamie Lloyds Romeo & Juliet. He aims to inspire the next generation of actors, poets, storytellers.
Jordan Aaron is a 22 year old Hackney, Stoke Newington Actor who writes poetry and releases work on Spotify and Apple Music. They use poetry as a way of release, to express their deepest desires, life experiences and to connect and inspire people to do what they love. They encourage people to speak through their art as it resonates with people and allows you to share what you may not be able to speak about in person.
Kristal Sisodia is a channeller of stories. They are a neurodivergent, gender fluid actor, writer, poet & musician of Bajan & Indian heritage, hailing from South London. Kristal was forced to take a 12 year hiatus due to several unexplained chronic illnesses but now, correctly diagnosed, they’re performing again with new insight and a dynamic energy that simply cannot be contained. Their work speaks on race, gender, disability, capitalism, mysticism & metaphysics.
