Nassim Plays

See events

Four plays. One writer. No preparation.

In a celebration of Nassim Soleimanpour's work, we bring together all four of the Iranian theatre-maker's plays in repertory over a week.

Nassim Soleimanpour’s work is unique in that it requires no rehearsals, no preparation. Just a sealed envelope and a different performer each night reading a script for the first time.

Nassim Plays includes the self-titled Nassim, commissioned by the Bush Theatre and directed by Omar Elerian; international hit White Rabbit Red Rabbit, presented by Aurora Nova; BLANK (Bush Theatre’s RADAR 2015 and Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2016), presented by Aurora Nova, and new play Cook, co-created by Nassim Soleimanpour and the Danish writer and director Jesper Pedersen.

This retrospective follows a five star hit run of Nassim at the Traverse Theatre as part of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it won a Fringe First award.

Work Experience Diary | Jessica ” a superb experience for me”

Our work experience student Jessica Burrows tells us about her time at the Bush Theatre. When I stepped out of Shepherd’s Bush Market station on Monday morning, I was thrilled by the hustle and bustle of the people rushing past. Slightly apprehensive, I crossed the road and approached the door to the Bush Theatre. As I waited…

Remembering Grenfell: One Year On

Today we remember the 72 people who lost their lives in the Grenfell Tower a year ago today by observing a 72 second silence at 12pm. Members of the team will also be attending the Silent Walk meeting at the base of the tower at 5pm and wearing green as part of Green 4 Grenfell.…

Winsome Pinnock’s Leave Taking Preface: “Reaching out for life in a new country”

Winsome Pinnock, writer of Leave Taking, describes the inspiration for her play in the Preface to the playtext published by Nick Hern Books. It’s available from our online book shop. I hadn’t read Leave Taking for several years when Madani Younis, Artistic Director of the Bush Theatre, told me that he wanted to revive the play as part of the theatre’s…
