Angela Bond
- Our People
We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of our former colleague, Executive Director Angela Bond.
Angela worked at the Bush Theatre alongside Artistic Director Josie Rourke. During her time as Executive Director, Angela campaigned successfully to restore the theatre’s funding and negotiated the century-long lease on our building – securing a home for one hundred years of new plays and Bush audiences that opened in 2011.
Angela’s contribution to the future and longevity of the Bush was unparalleled. She was respected and cherished by her colleagues and the artists and teams who worked alongside her.
She was associated with theatre in West London for many years, having begun her career at the Lyric Hammersmith at just 18 years old. Her time working on the Lyric’s Box Office was the start of lifelong friendships she carried with her throughout her career.
Angela went on to make significant contributions to the wider theatre community, including at Polka Theatre, where she was a much-loved member of the team and the right-hand woman of Artistic Director Vicky Ireland MBE and Executive Producer Stephen Midlane. She was loyal, hard-working, and a valued friend and collaborator.
There will be a celebration of Angela’s life and contribution to theatre later this year; details will be circulated to friends and colleagues.
We remember Angela with gratitude and admiration, and our thoughts are with her family, friends and all who knew her.
