Meet the new Bush Young Company

We’re thrilled to introduce our third Bush Young Company cohort for 18 – 25 year olds.

The new Bush Young Company members are:

Olise Essien, Meg Gillard, Vikas Gogana, Mannan Guled, Mohamed Hashi, Zarmeeneh Khan, Ayan Philip, Priscilla Oshinibosi, Rosie Owen, Abbey Oyetunde, Ruweyda Sheik-Ali, Jet Shenkyong-ma, Jess Senanayake, Shekinah Singh, Shermya, Ethan Simm, Lawrence Ssonko, Josie Surminski and Mason Thomas-Downes.

The Bush Young Company is a two-year theatre-making programme, taking place weekly and providing opportunities to develop artistic skills, build creative networks, and work alongside experienced artists to make original work for the Bush stage. Every summer, the Bush Young Companies take over the Bush’s main stage to perform brand new productions, created with and for them.

Bush Associate Director Katie Greenall said:

‘Following our 5th and most successful Bush Young Company summer season, we are thrilled to welcome a new cohort of Young Artists to the Bush. We can’t wait to work alongside these hugely talented theatre-makers, writers, and performers from in and around West London to make new work and invest long-term in their growth.

When we opened applications earlier this year, we had over 300 applications for only 19 places. In the last 5 years of running these companies, we have seen the huge impact this work can have on the artists, the work on our stages, and the theatre ecosystem more broadly. Free projects like this, supporting underrepresented voices, are increasingly under threat, but we are excited to continue our commitment to developing the stars of tomorrow.’
