What does it mean to be political?

Does it shapeshift through spaces in which a person holds different roles? A citizen, worker, friend, lover, family member, artist, activist? What does it look like? Feel like? How can we act meaningfully through our art, our work and our personal lives?

Bush Young Company members take the stage to perform poems and spoken word, sharing lived experience and responses to political events and movements.

Culture and the arts have long been for the people and have often been an avenue of hope and resistance, but how can we push beyond these spaces and raise our voices, even when we are met with silence?

This event is presented as part of the Bush Theatre’s ALT B programme – providing artists with a creative space to perform their work and take the first steps in developing their writing.
All ticket proceeds will go to The Advocacy Academy. The Advocacy Academy work towards a more just society by training young people with lived experience of injustice to achieve long-term systemic change in their communities and beyond.
