We are currently working with local young people to co-create the Bush Theatre’s first ever Young Companies.
The Bush Young Companies are free to participants and currently comprise 70% West Londoners. They reflect the Bush’s commitment to local life and developing the next generation of artists. This August, the 14-17 company will perform a specially commissioned work and the 18-25 will devise a new production for their debut appearance on the Bush’s main stage.
Actor and writer Malachi Kirby is the Bush Young Companies’ advocate. He will support the companies and help expand the skills of the young participants.
Bush Young Company (14-17)
We run weekly theatre making workshops which explore storytelling, acting for stage, creative writing, and different roles in the theatre industry. Our 14-17 Young Company premiered on our main stage last summer with their first show, BACK UP!.
Bush Young Company (18-25)
We recently welcomed our first group of 18-25 year olds. This group is for storytellers, particularly for people who might not know they are one yet. Workshops take place weekly at the Bush and provide opportunities to develop your skills with the Bush team and make work for our stage.
Both Young Companies are led by Young Company Coordinator Katie Greenall, alongside the Bush Theatre’s Artistic Director Lynette Linton and Associate Artistic Director Daniel Bailey.
THESE GROUPS ARE CURRENTLY AT CAPACITY. Recruitment for the 18-25 Young Company will next open in Spring/Summer 2023.
‘This is a monumental but necessary evolution of our theatre. Lynette, myself and the Bush team are excited to be forming these companies alongside the young artists. We are so inspired by their contribution and their artistry, we knew we had to make a legacy of it. This is just the beginning.’
Daniel Bailey, Bush Theatre Associate Director
