Online show FAQs

We’ve provided some more information below about booking and watching online events. If you have any further queries don’t hesitate to contact the Box Office on 020 8743 5050 or [email protected].

How does it work?

Our online events stream worldwide, so you can watch it from anywhere. You can choose when you would like to watch the stream. The performance will begin promptly at 2.45pm or 7.45pm GMT on the performance date you select. This stream will be synchronised for all viewers. Following the live stream, you will be able to access the film on demand for 48 hours.

Each online performance is a filmed live show, recorded at the Bush and streamed to audiences.

How much are tickets?

Single Tickets are £10. Watch With Friends tickets are £20.

Why are there different ticket prices?

Each ticket holder will have access to the same view, regardless of the price you pay. We’d be grateful if you could consider paying close to what you might normally spend on a theatre ticket. Your support is vital to help secure the future of our theatre in the coming year – each and every penny will make a difference.

If you are planning to watch with more than one person, please consider purchasing a Watch With Friends ticket.

How do I access the stream?

You’ll receive an email with a custom link to view the live stream when you purchase your ticket. You can use your custom link to watch on your laptop, tablet, mobile device – or mirror the show to your smart TV.

We recommend clicking on your link and getting set up at least half an hour before the stream begins. This will give you time to troubleshoot any issues should they arise.

I can’t find my link to view e-mail?

Be sure to check your junk/spam folder! Try searching [email protected] in your inbox, or let us know and we can resend the confirmation email.

How many tickets do I need to book?

You need to book one ticket per screen, even if you are watching with multiple people on the same screen.

If you want to access the stream from multiple devices or from multiple households, you need to purchase a ticket for each device. You will not be able to share your link to the performance with others.

If you are planning to watch with more than one person, please consider purchasing a Watch With Friends ticket.

Can I watch if I don’t live in the UK?

Absolutely! We want as many people to enjoy our productions as possible, but make sure you check the time the stream will be available from/to in your time zone.

What time zone is the performance time in?

The performance times are always given in local time (GMT). Make sure you’ve checked what time the stream will be available from/to in your time zone if watching from outside of the UK here.

Can I pause the live stream?

The live stream cannot be paused while you are watching it. The video will be available to watch at your convenience for 48 hours after the live stream, and you can pause, rewind and fast-forward as you please.

Will the performance be captioned?

All online performances will include captions. Only captions in English (UK) will be available, unless otherwise specified.

To turn closed captions on or off, click the CC icon in the video frame. This will then give you an option to add captions and also to turn them off.

Will the performance be audio described?

There are audio described performances of online shows available – please check the event page for details of which performance will have audio description. The audio description will be in English. If you need audio description, please ensure you book for one of these performances.

Audio description is a recorded voiceover which provides information about the visual elements of a production. The description is delivered in-between dialogue, and there is usually a pre-show audio introduction which will play before the performance starts. Some performances integrate audio description into the performance itself, where it is delivered by the actors as part of their dialogue.

Please note, at an audio described performance the audio description will play throughout and cannot be turned off.

On which devices will I be able to watch?

You will be able to watch on any device, such as a computer, smartphone, tablet or smart TV, with a stable internet connection. You can watch the stream via Google Chromecast, or on Apple TV, Android TV or Amazon Fire TV.

Can I share the performance to a TV?

Yes, there are multiple ways you can achieve this depending on what devices you are using. Popular methods for doing this include:

  • Casting to your TV: If using a laptop or desktop, we recommend using Google Chrome. In the top right of your Chrome browser window select the three dot menu, then select ‘Cast…’ and chose your casting device. If using an Android device you can cast your device screen using the Google Home app. If using an Apple device you can mirror your screen to an Apple TV device.
  • Connecting your laptop to your TV via a HDMI: Connect the HDMI cable to your laptop and TV, then select the relevant output source on your TV. This will then mirror your laptop screen to your TV.
  • Using an internet browser on your Smart TV: Open your Smart TV’s integrated browser and log into your email. From there, you can open the email we sent you and click on your link to stream.

More details about sharing the stream to your TV can be found in our guide here.

How can I ensure the best streaming experience?

For showtime, there are a few things you can do to avoid any issues.

  • Make sure you have the most updated version of the software you’re using.
  • Close all open windows or applications on your device that you’re not using.
  • It might be worth turning the wi-fi off on your other devices that may cause traffic.
  • For the strongest connection, connect your device to your router directly with an ethernet cable.

We recommend clicking on your link and getting set up at least half an hour before the stream begins. This will give you time to troubleshoot any issues should they arrive.

What can I do if I’m having trouble viewing the stream?

You can try these six steps to fix your stream:

  • Try refreshing your browser. Don’t forget to click the play button after it reloads.
  • Try switching to a different browser.
  • Try using the browser under ‘incognito/private’ mode.
  • Try disabling an ad-blocking software or browser plugins
  • Try a different device.
  • Go to speedtest.net and test your internet bandwidth. You’ll want at least 2Mbps to view the video.
