Moth

Performed in the Bush Attic space

David Luff Productions in association with the Bush Theatre presents a HighTide Festival Theatre production

Sebastian is “that kid” at high school. He’s weird. He smells. He’s obsessed with comics, and talks to himself. But after a catastrophic fallout with his only friend, Claryssa, he wakes up with a moth in a jar by his bed, and a calling to save the souls of all humanity. And so begins the Passion of Sebastian: a journey into a terrifying and starless night.

By turns dark and shimmering, Moth is a firework of a play. Channelling Donnie Darko, Disco Pigs and Copenhagen, it is a fast, funny and heartbreaking story about two young people with nowhere to go.

Moth premieres at the HighTide Festival Theatre before opening at the Bush. Moth was first produced by Arena Theatre and Malthouse Theatre at the CUB Malthouse Theatre, Melbourne, on 13 May 2010.

Please be aware that our attic space is only accessible via stairs. Please do phone the box office to discuss any access requirements you may have

In two days’ time the country will head to the polls to decide who our next government will be. While this will be a pivotal moment for the nation in many ways, at the Bush we are keenly aware of the shared responsibility of the sector to ensure arts and culture sit firm on our…

Bijan Sheibani: Drama is a means of finding our truer selves

I have been asked in the past whether male vulnerability is a running theme in my work.  Barber Shop Chronicles and The Brothers Size, two plays I recently directed, and my play The Arrival, all look at the way men open themselves up to one another and the difficulties men have in doing that. They also explore to varying degrees…
