Heartache.Heartbreak
An on-going gift of a work by Bryony Kimmings. Heartache.Heartbreak. is an endless letter to lost loves across the world. Begun in Portugal as part of a Forest Fringe residency this durational work seeks to eradicate loneliness, love pains and stupid tears by turning heartache and heartbreak into objects of ridicule. This Autumn Kimmings lands in Shepherds Bush and asks its residents for its cures for heartache. Connecting to the psyche of an area, asking its community for soul soup and stories, Kimmings then creates small pieces of performance for those who help her. Each evening these are played out like a jukebox of agony aunt solutions, old wives tales and straight talking slaps. This show is for anyone whose ever cried into soup alone, banged down doors or grasped at their chest in the night. Quick witted, endlessly chatted and oh so totally true… join Kimmings as she fights heartache and laughs right at love!

What happens when your fear comes round for dinner, and your deepest, darkest thoughts refuse to lie low?
Solfatara [def]: openings in volcanic terrain that emit hot, sulphurous gases. We are full of these geological phenomena, orifices that allow our insides to surface.
Witty, fast paced and hilarious, a young couple’s frustrations explode with catastrophic honesty as a masked figure dares them to voice their true feelings.
Performed in Spanish with English surtitles, the translation takes on a subversive life of its own.

ATRESBANDES are a Catalan company formed in 2008 after meeting at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. Their work is influenced by a diverse range of disciplines, being characterised by a common thread where the collective creation process is essential. Seeking to question everything, doubt and uncertainty are as important as mutual understanding in their approach to contemporary theatre.
Bryony Kimmings is a Performance Artist but don’t hold that against her. She creates full-length theatre shows, cabaret work, homemade music and sound installations. Her work is larger than life, often outrageous, visually loud, sometimes dangerous, somewhat unpredictable but above all fun. She is inspired by the taboos and anomalies of British culture and her autobiographical themes promote the airing of her own dirty laundry to oil conversations on seemingly difficult subjects. Her work follows real life social experiments that she embarks upon with genuine genius intrigue and wholehearted, fearless gusto.
Previous works include her award winning debut work “Sex Idiot” where she re-traced a STI back to its origins, the scientific drinking experiment “7 Day Drunk” that investigated if alcohol was good for creativity, and the moving, participatory hit “Mega” which regressed its listeners back to 9 years old. Her current Fringe First winning show “Credible Likeable Superstar Role Model” follows her journey to create an alternative pop star with her 9 year old niece Taylor to counteract the sexualised tween pop offer.
