Every year we invite two local organisations to become part of the Local Partnership Scheme at the Bush Theatre.
Our Local Partners form a long-term, collaborative, creative relationship with the Bush Theatre.
The Bush Theatre, alongside Lead Artists chosen by the companies, will develop a programme of regular artistic interventions and activities with these groups which will lead to a centrepiece project performed at the theatre. They are invited to events at the Bush Theatre and other cultural institutions for shows, events, and trips, allowing us to develop creative partnerships and deeper understanding.
This year the venue will work with Masbro Centre Tea Club and The Barons Court Project Women’s Group.
The Masbro Centre is a community service whose aim is to improve the health, wealth and wellbeing of the local community of Hammersmith and Fulham. Their Tea Club is a weekly social group for local elders to take part in a variety of different activities, which are mainly focused on health and wellbeing.
Tina Wood, Elders Project Manager at the Masbro centre has said:
“We hope our Associate status will raise the profile of our Elders Project in the community, enable our elders to become more visible, raise awareness of the work we do with older people, encourage others to value our work and assist us with fundraising for future projects.”
The Barons Court Project is a charity supporting people on low incomes who are vulnerable to mental ill health and/or homelessness. Their Women’s Group is a female-only space to socialise and take part in trips and activities such as arts and crafts, relaxation and cookery. It runs weekly from the charity’s base in Barons Court.
Poppy Sharkey, Project Worker at The Barons Court Project has said:
“We are excited to see the voices of the group expressed in a creative way, whilst improving the group member’s confidence and skills, and creating a lasting relationship with the Bush Theatre.”
